On Friday, the Jaguars played another away game at Hollingworth. The Hawks are always known for having a strong basketball team and this time it was no different. This year, our honorary principal was Mr. Jimmy Wu. Mr. Wu is a reporter for the Chinese Daily News and has a child here at Jellick. Mrs. Grigsby graciously filled in for me and showed Mr. Wu what happens during the day at an elementary school.

We even take a Physical Fitness Test (PFT). Public school students in grades five, seven, and nine are required to take the PFT. The good news is Jellick students have been preparing for this test all year (and even last year in grade four).

The Jaguars played an aggressive game against the Rorimer Royals. The Royals had a strong defense and make a run against the Jaguars at the end of the game, but time ran out.

However, we also like to have fun. On Thursday evening, SpeedZone had a Race Fest for the NASCAR racer, Brad Keselowski . Many local sponsors and community members were present. SpeedZone did a wonderful job of making everyone feel welcome and comfortable. Thank you Mrs. Luna for organizing the evening.

Jellick’s PTA recently sponsored a cake decorating night to coincide with our family math night (Kitchen Math). Families were invited to spend 60 minutes together to decorate a plain cake any way they wished. There were three categories: Holiday, Sports and Cartoon.
